Paul Morley

Mr Paul Morley

Paul's association with the LCMC began in the early 1980's when he became organist of the group under the Directorship of Dr Stephen Booth, with whom he worked at Thurmaston Parish Church. Following Stephen's retirement in September 2005, Paul took over the directorship of the group having been its organist for in excess of twenty years.

Paul's musical education began at the age of eight as a chorister for St Philips Church, Leicester, under the guidance of charismatic choirmaster Mr Frederick Allt, who was an outstanding organist, pianist and accompanist.

Paul has held many posts in church music in Leicestershire including both Organist and Choirmaster of Thurmaston Parish Church, temporary Master of the Choristers at Leicester Cathedral (prior to the appointment of Jonathan Gregory) and Director of Music at St James the Greater, Leicester from 2002-2006, during which time the choir enjoyed successful week long tours to Carlisle, Wells and Chichester Cathedral and outstanding regional and national success for his treble choristers, including gaining finalists in the BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year twice and successive winners of the East Midlands Choirs Charitable Trust Denis Wright and John Taverner Awards on four occasions.

Paul owes a great debt to Stephen Booth without whom the group would not have evolved into what it has become, a highly professional consort with an enviable reputation and a unique Christian ethos. The LCMC has provided him with some marvellous opportunities to praise God in some of England's most marvellous and historic buildings.
