The consort's origins are truly humble with the group being formed by Mr David Evans, currently Organist of All Saints Thurcaston by bringing together four singers to assist St Mary's, Barkby, with their Christmas carol service.

The group, then known as the T.C.M.C. (Tudor Church Music Consort) sang services at a number of local churches including Cossington, Wymeswold, Hallaton and Thurmaston.

After two to three years working with David Evans as joint Director, Dr Stephen Booth took over Directorship of the group and continued as its Director until 2005 with David Evans as its organist until 1983, when Paul Morley took over as Organist and remained so for the next 22 years. During this period to date, the choir developed and grew to 25 strong and began to develop its expertise and repertoire.
