Keeping in touch by becoming a friend

Join The Friends

For over one hundred years many people have worshipped at the Church of St James the Greater. It is a Church which is talked about because of its situation on the A6 and is noticed by countless people who drive or walk past every day. It is affectionately known as "the pulpit on the A6". Many have been inspired by the beauty of its architecture, by the dignity of its Services, and by the uplifting music. Lasting friendships have been formed and developed within the congregation and many people have fond memories of family occasions and special services which have taken place during the course of their lives. Many of those who attend the Church have been introduced to the Christian Faith, and this Faith has been nurtured over the years resulting in the commitment and affection of its congregation throughout the Church's history. For many years the Church, with its superb acoustics, has become a regular venue for concerts and, in more recent times, a "Spiritual Home for the Arts". It is increasingly involved in interfaith initiatives and has seen an energetic commitment towards the incorporation of the Church and its resources in activities for the more vulnerable members of society.
